Quality Matters FAQs

• Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) is Quality Matters’ foundational training for learning how to use the QM Rubric to evaluate and improve the design of online and blended courses.

Our institution requires APPQMR to establish a shared understanding of course quality and provide faculty and instructional support staff with a consistent framework for designing and reviewing digital learning courses.
The training helps participants:

• Apply the QM Rubric to course design.
• Recognize alignment among course objectives, assessments, activities, instructional materials, and tools.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen course design and provide constructive recommendations for improvement.
• Build a common approach to quality assurance across the institution.

Online Course Redesign Academy (OCRA/APPQMR) is a multi-step program that initiates faculty in their course (re)design process.
It requires:

• Full attendance at the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) training
• Working with a DL Instructional Designer to complete a course redesign that meets Quality Matters review standards, including all Essential Standards and a minimum score of 85%

Online Course Redesign Academy (OCRA)

• QM Certified courses undergo an internal review that meets QM Standards for Higher Education standards at a level of 85% or greater according to the QM rubric. The QM Certification for these courses is valid for five years from the date of certification. This process uses the standard QM reviewer team structure. 
• ACC Internal QM certified courses undergo an internal review that meets QM Standards for Higher Education standards at a level of 85% or greater according to the QM rubric. The QM Certification for these courses is valid for three years from the date of certification. This process uses one internal peer reviewer.
