In order to meet the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) requirements, ACC instructors must complete the Distance Learning Instruction Series (DLIS) prior to teaching any distance education course.

This required training prepares faculty to design and teach online courses at Austin Community College. The series includes four modules, each covering a key component of distance education instruction.

How to Complete the Series: Choose your preferred format, or mix and match:

1) Self-paced online: Complete all 4 modules at your own pace.

2) Live online sessions via Zoom:

  • Dates: Wednesdays on July 2, July 9, July 16, and July 23
  • Time: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Modality: Online in Zoom
  • Each session covers one instructional module.

Earning Your Credit:

To receive credit for the series, you must successfully complete the assessments for all four modules, regardless of the format(s) you choose.

Completion of this series fulfills one of the training requirements for ACC distance learning instruction.

You will earn four hours of professional development credit upon successful completion of all four modules.
