Accessibility & Usability for the Online Instructor
This workshop introduces the core principles of accessibility and usability and demonstrates how to apply them to create more accessible and user-friendly Blackboard courses and faculty websites for all devices. It also explores the research and rationale behind Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The online class includes hands-on activities and assessments.
Topics include:
- Major categories of disability
- Relevant laws and regulations
- Applying web accessibility and usability principles to course design and faculty web pages
- Universal Design for online teaching
- Analyzing the organizational structure of course and faculty web pages
- Making courses and websites more accessible for mobile devices using web accessibility, usability, and UDL principles

Creating an Effective Online Course
This workshop focuses on setting up your online course for student success. As educators, our chief goal is to enable student engagement with their own learning. Participants will examine modes of online learning, effective online orientation, ensuring course alignment, maximizing student engagement, and structuring your online course.
The series is divided into six modules. You must complete all the modules in order to earn professional development credit.
This workshop series is designed for those who have not completed Quality Matters APPQMR training or are not currently working with a DE Instructional Designer.
Topics include:
- Introduction to online learning
- Creating an effective online course orientation
- Course alignment for success
- Increasing online student engagement
- Improving online course accessibility
- Structuring online learning modules

Creating Engagement with Online Learning Technologies
This course focuses on Padlet and VoiceThread, both of which are supported by ACC. Recommendations for best practices by faculty are included. There is an opportunity to earn more credit by creating learning activities with the tools described.

ACC Internal Peer Reviewer Training
ACC Internal Peer Reviewer Training
Faculty will examine and apply techniques from Quality Matters to complete an Internal Review of an ACC online course and be able to describe the ACC Internal Peer Review Process. Upon completion of this training, faculty will be eligible to complete internal course reviews.
Stipend: $500 stipend will be paid upon completion of the training requirements.

Registration is ongoing, but due to manual enrollment, please allow a minimum of two business days for access to your course(s).
You may register for up to two self-paced courses at a time and you will have 90 days to complete each course. You are welcome to register or re-enroll in courses as needed.
