1. The Foundation: OCRA

The Online Course Redesign Academy (OCRA) is the starting point for faculty. This two-part program ensures your courses meet high standards for distance education.

  • Complete the “Applying the Quality Matters Rubric” (APPQMR) workshop. This is the required prerequisite for all further QM training.
  • Partner with a Distance Education Instructional Designer to (re)design and review your course.
  • Format: Choose between live (synchronous) or self-paced (asynchronous) options.

Note: Check the Training for DE Faculty for offerings

2. Become a Peer Reviewer

Once you have finished the APPQMR training, you can choose one of two paths to become a certified reviewer:

Option A: National QM Peer Reviewer Training

  • Source: Taken directly through the Quality Matters website.
  • Scope: You can review courses both nationally and internally at ACC.
  • Timeframe: 3 weeks with firm deadlines.

Option B: Internal QM Peer Reviewer Training

  • Source: Taken locally through ACC Distance Education.
  • Scope: You can serve as a reviewer for internal ACC course reviews.
  • Timeframe: Flexible (1 week minimum; up to 3 months).

Faculty who complete either the National or Internal Peer Reviewer training are eligible for a $500 stipend.

Note: The stipend is paid only once, even if both training tracks are completed
